Juno

juno-1.jpg

I just saw the film Juno.

There is nothing bad to say about this film. Nothing. It’s an absolute gem. It even features the word ’shenanigans’, which is possibly my favourite word of all time.

I always think that the best films are the ones that make you want to be every one of the characters when it’s over. And this film made me want to be a pregnant teenager, a middle aged Sonic Youth fanatic, a geeky athlete, a clucky housewife, a dog obsessed step-mother and the world’s coolest dad all at the same time.

And the soundtrack is perfect. Better than Rushmore. It’s like a collection of songs from the back of your mind, that make you want to go back in time to when you heard them, because you know you were doing something brilliant with someone amazing when you did.

Get on to googlevideo immediately and watch it.

Then watch it in the cinema, for greater effect. I think it’s out next week.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to make a habit of doing film reviews - there’s plenty of other people doing that type of thing. It’s just that this film was utterly fantastic.

Yeah Juno is great. Ellen Page is such a great talent. Ever seen Hard Candy?

I finally got to see Once during the week, and I loved it, which considering the fact that even a mental image of Glen Hansard sends me on a shooting rampage is some feat.

They used the word “shenanigans” in the episode of Twin Peaks I saw last night. Great, great word.

I read an interview with the young girl in Newsweek and she sounded smart and considered. Haven’t seen the film yet but I’ve only heard the best things bout it.

Congrats on your nomination, by the way. Good luck.
