How Much Of A Nerd Are You?

If you’re reading this for a start, I reckon you’re a bit of a nerd. Because if you’re reading this, then chances are you have a blog. Or are at least a friend of mine with the knowhow to use a computer for something other than looking at porn and betting online (3 of my mates use computers solely for these reasons. They aren’t nerds. The rest of them pretty much are in one way or another).

However, I reckon I can trump you all in the nerd stakes.

I’ve been on E-Bay recently you see. Now a lot of people use E-Bay to buy sensible items like books, CDs, records, clothes, car parts, computer hardware, kitchenware and electrical equipment for a little bit less than they’d pay in the shops. But not me.

This week I’ve bought the following pointless items of nerditude for next to nothing:

sup.jpg

A big, chunky plastic Superman. I don’t know why. It’s not like I have any shelves to put it on. But it will go well with my Spiderman cushion and Superman mug.

cuff.jpg

Oh yes. Those are Superman cufflinks. You know, for the one shirt that I have with those massive cuffs that gets used every time one of my non-nerd friends gets married.

darth.jpg

No, no, not the couch - that would be a sensible thing to buy. No. I bought the massive Darth Vader multi frame wall thingy. You know, for my bedroom. Girls like that, right?

So whats the nerdiest thing you own?

NB: in my head, the word NERD wherever used above is automatically replaced with the word COOL so don’t hold back…

With the anniversary of my birth fast approaching my lovely wife gave me free rein to buy what I want on eBay, so this week I have been mostly buying the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime Masterpiece edition.
As an extra I also bought two little tiny smokestacks that attach to him to make him more resemble the Japanese released version.
I also bought the re-issue Predaking box set.
And I’m about to buy a Series B Lady Lavery £20 from 1968 because not only do I collect Transformers but I colect coins and notes :)
Oh, and the othernight I got the Charlton years football DVD for €1 delivered.
    I love eBay.

The bike from Akira sounds deadly.

I also have a Charlie Brown t-shirt (not a picture of him, his actual t-shirt) a glow in the dark friday 13th Hockey Mask.

    And a t-shirt with a zombie C3PO eating R2D2’s braaaaaaaaains.

I don’t think I own any nerd stuff- you know the no space argument to death by now- but I think everything about me and my life is inherently nerdy. And I love it.

    Full collection of Sandman comics.

Rare video of Meet the Feebles, Peter Jackson’s 2nd film about Muppet type creatures who put on a nightly entertainment show, but deal in drugs and make porno on the side.

My entire apartment could probably trump even the biggest nerds, and it’s oddly mostly down to the missus since she owns a huge amount of the stuff because she hoards everything

    - SpongeBob Squarepants Shower Radio,

    - King Rollo annuals,

    - Transformers soap (not suitable for actual use since it’d stain the bath permanently),

    - original Toy Story characters including an original Buzz Lightyear,

    - Star Wars postage stamps,

    - assorted Top Trumps (Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean spring to mind)

    - original Cars characters from the credits where Pixar parodied their own earlier movies,

    - South Park characters,

    - Limited edition Carnegie Museum hand-painted scale-model dinosaurs from 1990-1992 (they guard the kitchen presses),

    - we have a Lego town in the corner of the living room a massive coffee table, and most of the Lego comes from between 1982-1988 according to a website,

    - a 2-headed stuffed snake,

    - Star Wars Lego,

    - original Star Wars action figures

    - original Batman and Catwoman figures from the movies in the early 90s

    - tons of other Disney stuff

    - original My Little Pony characters (one of them minds my comb in the bathroom),

    - the McDonald’s Transformer that turns from a bag of fries into a robot (everyone remembers them),

    - 6-foot cardboard skeleton

The best thing about posting that list is that it’ll come in handy for insurance purposes.

There’s millions of other things that I’m sure I’ve forgotten, and the worst of it is, more and more stuff keeps appearing all the time.
